USGS Scientist Presents on Impacts of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita: National Wetlands Research Center Director Greg Smith gave an invited talk, “Biological Impacts of the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita: Implications for Restoring Resilience to the Gulf Coast,” at the opening plenary session at the Big Thicket Science Conference, March 22 – 25 in Beaumont, Texas. The conference brought together researchers, resource managers, students, and the public to better understand, manage, and restore the unique biological diversity of the Big Thicket and surrounding Gulf Coastal Plain.
