MEMORANDUM

From: Susan Horton
Subject: Weekly Highlights, USGS National Wetlands Research Center, November 22 2006

Press Inquiries/Media

USGS scientist Tommy Michot was interviewed November 16 for the film, “Paradise Faded: The Fight for Louisiana,” a documentary about saving Louisiana’s coastal wetlands. Michot also assisted with fact checking for the film which was just submitted to the Sundance Film Festival.

An image of USGS scientist and Cajun musician Tommy Michot is being used in a new book for educators, “Spirit of the Estuary,” that will highlight art, music, and language arts in teaching about the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary, which is southwest of New Orleans. Michot’s music is often about the link between the loss of wetlands and the loss of the Acadian French culture in coastal Louisiana.
