Press Inquiries/Media

On June 21, USGS scientist Tommy Michot provided two images showing the Chandeleur lighthouse to a photo researcher gathering images for a earth science textbook to be published by McGraw-Hill. Using the lighthouse as a landmark, the photos show the dramatic before and after erosional effects of Hurricane Ivan (2004) on the Chandeleur Islands, a chain of barrier islands off the Louisiana coast.
