II. Press Inquiries/Media

USGS scientist Stephen Faulkner was interviewed by The Independent Weekly (Lafayette, LA) for a June 15 story about coastal forested wetlands and the publication of Conservation, Protection and Utilization of Louisiana’s Coastal Wetland Forest by the Coastal Wetland Forest Conservation and Use Science Working Group to the Governor of Louisiana. Faulkner serves on the science working group and is a co-author of the report.

A reporter and photographer from the Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA) spent a day in the Atchafalaya Swamp with USGS scientist Dana Drake, contract biologist Jason Sullivan and high school computer science teacher Chasity Menard as the group conducted an amphibian survey. The story will appear June 12 and will focus on USGS amphibian research and how technology, such as personal digital assistants (PDA), remote data loggers, and the Global Positioning System, is used to study amphibian populations in Louisiana’s forested wetlands.
