USGS Supports Job Shadowing for Teacher:
USGS partnered with the Iberia Parish (Louisiana) School System to host a “Teachers as Interns” job shadowing opportunity at the National Wetlands Research Center, June 7-9. Chastity Menard, a high school computer science teacher, worked with technology professionals and scientists to gain a better understanding of how technology is used to support field and laboratory wetlands research, mapping of wetland habitats, and development of educational products. When the educator returns to her school, she will design an activity or event that will make a real world connection between her curriculum area of computer science and the work place. III. Press Inquiries/Media

USGS scientist Greg Smith was interviewed by KATC TV-3 (Lafayette, LA) about using radar to understand migratory birds and their use of coastal habitats around the Gulf of Mexico. The story was broadcast on the June 2 evening news.
