A. Upcoming

New Poster "Louisiana: Migratory Crossroads:" Beth Vairin, publications manager, and the editorial staff at the USGS National Wetlands Research Center are assisting the Barataria Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) with a poster called "Louisiana: Migratory Crossroads." The poster will be printed this summer and is a joint effort by BTNEP and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Designed for middle and high school students, the poster shows the significance of Louisiana as a stopover site for over 200 migratory bird species each spring and autumn. The BTNEP-USFWS-USGS team are also working on two other projects about bird migrations through Louisiana. (Beth Vairin, Lafayette, LA, 337 266-8551)

III. Press Inquiries/Media

On June 5, USGS scientist Tommy Michot was the featured guest on "Louisiana Wild," a public radio program on Baton Rouge's WRKF-FM. He discussed everything from coastal marsh loss and restoration projects to bird surveys and duck populations.
