MEMORANDUM

From: Susan Horton
Subject: Biology Highlights for National Wetlands Research Center, May 28, 2004

III. Press Inquiries/Media

On May 23, USGS scientists Elijah Ramsey and Gene Nelson were interviewed about their work using remote sensing data from 1934 to 2000 to map the Palo Alto (TX) Battlefield National Historic Site (U. S. – Mexican War of 1846-48) for a History Channel documentary series called Battlefield Detectives. Battlefield Detectives looks at a specific battle site and with analysis of the geology, terrain, weaponry, and tactics tries to piece together how and why key events happened and why a particular side won the battle.
