Strecker's chorus frog (Pseudacris streckeri)

Gray, brown, or green stout frog reaching a maximum length of 1.78 inches. Toes contain adhesive discs that are slightly wider than toes. Stocky forearms resemble those of a toad. A dark stripe runs through the eye and a dark spot is present below the orbit of the eye. A dark triangle-shaped spot occurs between the eyes. Dark dorsal and lateral spots occur irregularly on the body. Groin is yellow in coloration. Males sing from late January to mid-March. Voice resembles the sound made by the turning of an ungreased wooden wheel. Females lay 400 to 700 eggs in groups of 20 to 50. Eggs are attached to submerged vegetation. Only known to inhabit pasture lands above the Red River floodplain in Louisiana.
