Small treefrog reaching a maximum length of 1.69 inches. Green to brown in coloration with extremely variable small, dark spots on dorsum. Faint, wavy or jagged line runs from anterior part of the side to the upper lip. Breeds in shallow ephemeral pools with many weeds. Rain initiates singing in males. Calls from mid-March to early November. Females lay up to 1,000 eggs in two jelly envelopes on the bottom breeding pool. Species occurs frequently in the southern Louisiana bottomlands in ephemeral pools and disjunct populations in hardwood stream valleys throughout central and northern Louisiana.
