Non native, small, terrestrial frog reaching a maximum length of 1 inch. Sexually dimorphic in size—males are usually smaller than females and have larger tympani and a longer head. Skin is smooth and covered in patches ranging in coloration from various shades of brown, gray, or yellow olive. Body is flat and elongate, and snout is pointed. A dark line runs from the nostril through the eye. Males call through the summer and into early fall. The call resembles that of a cricket. Females lay 5 to 12 eggs in each clutch and lay several clutches each year. Species occurs where it has been introduced in Lafayette, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, Broussard and Caddo Parish.
