Green is the Theme at Women’s History Month ExhibitionLafayette, La. – The U.S. Geological Survey’s National Wetlands Research Center invites artists to display their “green” talent at an exhibition celebrating Women’s History Month in March. The deadline to submit participation forms is March 10. For forms or more information, contact Debbie Norling at (337) 266-8500 or visit www.nwrc.usgs.gov. The second annual USGS-sponsored exhibition in Lafayette, La., titled “Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet: Art Goes ‘Green,’” is designed to showcase the talent of the area's women artists through the theme of environmental consciousness. All visual art media that reflect nature are welcome, particularly pieces using “green” or recycled materials or reflecting a “green” theme; however, this is not a requirement for submission. “Think of ‘green’ as anything having to do with nature, from traditional artworks to pieces incorporating recycled or renewable materials,” said Norling, the event organizer. The showing will be open to the public March 16–20, 2009 at the USGS National Wetlands Research Center, 700 Cajundome Blvd., Lafayette, La. |
