Sen. Breaux to Visit National Wetlands Research Center
What:
Congressional visit to the U.S. Geological Survey's National Wetlands Research
Center, located in the Research Park of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Topic: U.S. Sen. John Breaux will visit the USGS National Wetlands Research Center to discuss pending legislation to extend the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA; also known as the Breaux Act) into 2019.
The Center provides field and laboratory research to study wetland loss and uses its geographic information systems technology to help plan and monitor restoration projects under the Act. Sen. Breaux, accompanied by U.S. Rep. Chris John, will inspect some of the 2500 maps the Center produced this year for the Breaux Act task force and discuss related projects.
