The lending institution determines conditions of use, and the NWRC library is bound by these provisions. Conditions include length of the loan period, due date, and any restrictions on the use of the material, e.g., in-library use only, no photocopying, or no renewals. It is the patron's responsibility to adhere to due dates and restrictions.
Photocopies are usually yours to keep. The average length of a loan period for books, pamphlets, microforms, and other loans is 2-3 weeks. The due date is indicated on the band attached to the item. Materials labeled "for library use only" will be held and will be available for use in the NWRC library.
Extensions can be granted only with the permission of the lending institution. Renewals may be requested on any ILL material, unless specifically prohibited by the lending library. To request an extension, contact the ILL office at least 4 days before the due date. You will be notified of the new due date if the renewal is granted. If the renewal is denied, you must return the material without delay. Renewals cannot be placed on overdue materials, nor can we request second renewals.
All loaned materials are subject to recall by the lending library. If recalled, materials must be returned immediately. When the material is overdue, you will receive an overdue notice. The NWRC library strives to maintain a good working relationship with suppliers by returning their materials promptly.
Return materials to the interlibrary loan section in the NWRC library. If no one is in the ILL office, either leave the materials on the desk or return them to the book cart.
Patrons should return materials on or before the date indicated on the lending slip. The cost of replacing a lost book, or of repairing a book damaged by unauthorized copying, will be charged to the requestor. Prompt return of materials ensures continued interlibrary loan privileges from other libraries.
