- Acadiana Youth Visit NWRC: A group of 13 children from Acadiana Youth visited the USGS National Wetlands Research Center on June 30, 2009. The students received a tour of the Center, where they learned about greenhouse experiments; research on fish, frogs, and invasive applesnails; and spatial analysis through mapping. - Elementary Students Come to NWRC: USGS National Wetlands Research Center contractor Gabrielle Bodin hosted a group of 30 students from the Butterflies Summer Program on July 2, 2009. The children ranged in age from second to fifth grade. The students received an educational presentation on Louisiana’s wetlands and then toured the Center, including stops at the mapping department, the greenhouses, the freshwater laboratories, and the created wetland area.
