USGS Scientist Gives Keynote Talk at International Conference on Invasive Plants: USGS scientist Randy Westbrooks was an invited speaker at the 9th International Conference on the Ecology and Management of Alien Plant Invasions held September 17 – 21, in Perth, Australia. His keynote address was on the development of a national early detection and rapid response system for invasive plants in the United States. Westbrooks also chaired sessions on the establishment of an international early detection and rapid response working group under the Invasive Species Specialist Group, part of The World Conservation Union. USGS Scientist Gives Keynote Address on Climate Change: USGS scientist Virginia Burkett was an invited speaker at the 2007 Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Annual Meeting held September 16 – 21, in Louisville, Kentucky. Her plenary presentation, “Climate Change 2007: Overview for North American Wildlife Managers,” was followed by two panels of State fish and wildlife managers who discussed observed changes in their regions and related management challenges and opportunities.
