Thomas W. Doyle, Ph.D. 1983. Systems ecology, University of
Tennessee. Ecosystem analysis and modeling, forest stand and landscape
simulation, tree-ring analysis, plant competition and growth modeling,
disturbance ecology.
Doyle's research focuses on developing integrated simulation models of plant growth and succession at the stand and landscape levels. His models have predicted effects of natural and anthropogenic disturbance on the structure and function of temperate and tropical ecosystems. Dendroecological techniques are commonly applied for reconstruction, validation, and competition models. Current model applications include projected impacts of global climate change, carbon dioxide, and hurricanes along with resource management issues of wetland restoration, fire, wastewater pollution, and landscape fragmentation.
