Ken W. Krauss, Ph.D. 2004. Environmental and Evolutionary Biology, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Physiological ecology, Ecohydrology, Climate change effects on coastal forests, Pacific island wetlands, Restoration
Krauss’s current research focuses on three primary topics: (1) physiological ecology, stand water use, and hydrological monitoring of coastal swamps and marshes, (2) stress physiology and carbon cycling in tidal freshwater forested wetlands of Louisiana, South Carolina, and Georgia, and (3) ecological and forestry investigations to support future swamp forest restoration activities. Past research includes sedimentation dynamics, tree growth, and regeneration of Micronesian mangroves and freshwater forested wetlands; influence of seed predators in structuring tropical forested wetlands; invasion biology of mangroves in the Hawaiian intertidal environment; and improvement of salt tolerance in baldcypress for use in coastal restoration programs.
