Nicole Cormier, M.S. 2003. Biology, University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Belowground productivity, Wetland biogeochemistry, Pacific island forested wetlands.
As a support biologist, Cormier focuses on a project designed to monitor climate change in tidally influenced freshwater forested wetlands of the Southeast to better understand forest to marsh ecosystem transitions. Her responsibilities include field, laboratory, and programming support for forest modeling and other ecophysiological research. Cormier also participates in a study in collaboration with the USGS Florida Integrated Science Center to quantify trophic coupling and habitat connectivity among coral reef, mangrove, and seagrass communities of the Virgin Islands National Park. Past research includes studies examining forested wetland structure, belowground productivity, disturbance, nutrient cycling in streams, invasive species impacts on aquatic community structure, and foodweb dynamics of marine ecosystems.
