Michael J. Baldwin, M.S. 2005. Wildlife, Louisiana State University. Avian ecology, wildlife management, conservation biology.
Baldwin's interests are in avian and mammalian ecology. He is studying the forage availability for whooping cranes at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, TX. The goals of this project are to establish an accurate method for refuge personnel to monitor blue crab abundance and to analyze the effects of crab abundance on whooping crane winter survival rate and next-year reproductive success. Baldwin is also working on a project that is measuring nutritional value of various fruits, seeds, flowers, and insects consumed by birds. The results of this project could be useful to land managers attempting to create or improve wildlife habitat through management and restoration efforts.
